Author's World Book Day visit

A famous children's author entertained little book worms.

Andrew Cope, author of the Spy Dog series, visited Egerton Rothesay School, in Berkhamsted, in celebration of World Book Day last Thursday (March 4).

The author talked to the children about his work and was joined by the inspiration for his books, his dog Lara.

After a special assembly with Mr Cope, the pupils took part in a writing challenge and were later given prizes for their work and had a chance to get copies of Mr Cope's books personally signed.

School registrar Liz Martin said: "We booked him a year ago because he is so popular in children's circles.

"The children had a wonderful time."

Mrs Martin said Mr Cope was a very charasmatic speaker.

"They were absolutely transfixed and spellbound by what he had to say," she said.

"They learnt a lot about positive thinking and they learnt if you try hard enough you can achieve anything."
