A free-range egg company has redefined the term ‘chick lit’ with an idea that’s sure to ruffle some feathers.
Falling For Clooney is the first romance novel written especially for hens, who apparently settle better at night when listening to the sound of a human voice.
The audio book follows hen Molly in her bid to catch the attention of A-list rooster Clooney.
It will be played to the roosting females at Bulbourne Farm near Tring, and will also be available on the Happy Egg Co’s website for any chicken owners to try at home.
The story was written by British author and hen-keeper Catherine Alliott, who said: “I’ve been writing tales of romance for more than 20 years but penning chick lit for actual chicks is definitely a first.
“I’ve grown up with animals and now have over 80 of my own, so combining my love of animals and writing was an opportunity too good to miss. They’ve been good listeners – and my first ever feathered critics!”
We just hope that the story is all that it’s cracked up to be.
