Researchers in Adbury have traced the life stories of the 26 men whose names appear on the village war memorial for First World War soldiers.

An exhibition about them will be held at St John the Baptist Church from 10.30am to 5.30pm on Saturday and from noon to 7pm Sunday.

There will be music, readings and the lighting of candles during a commemorative event at the end of the second day.

Village researcher Chris Dove said: “Aldbury was a small village then and yet it provided over 100 men to the war so the effect on village life was enormous.

“We have biographies, details of the battles they were involved in, maps of the village at the time and many contemporary photographs and documents.”

All of the events are free to attend.
