HUSBAND-AND-WIFE John and Heather complain the “last old house” in Berkhamsted’s High Street could be damaged by a neighbour’s building work.

Plans to build a new boundary wall between the two homes as well as a part two-storey extension and new gates at the home came under fire by the pair.

Mr Pickard said: “We are fortunate enough to live in the last old house in High Street.

“It will cause us massive loss of light and total lack of privacy.

“There are masses of room to extend at the front of their property that would not cause any problems for us.

“We have been very careful when any work has been done on our own property to make sure it is in keeping with the age of it.”

The two spoke out during a meeting of Berkhamsted Town Council’s planning committee.

Councillors recommended plans were rejected by Dacorum Borough Council’s development control committee.
