A POOCH and his owner have proved they are both top dogs by qualifying for the finals of an international competition.

Caroline Durrant, from Kings Langley, and Bobby, a labrador retriever and Staffordshire bull terrier crossbreed, scooped victory at the Kennel Club International Agility Festival in mid-August.

The duo won the Starters Cup semi-final for large dogs at the festival and qualify for the Kennel Club’s Discover Dogs competition taking place at Earls Court in London on November 12 and 13.

At these events owners guide their dogs around a course consisting of tunnels, jumps, weave poles and other obstacles against the clock.

Caroline said: “I am so shocked and excited that we have won and got through to the Discover Dogs final.

“I’ve only been competing for a year so I couldn’t quite believe it at first. Bobby is a really special dog and I’m very proud of him.

“It keeps us fit and healthy and I would recommend it to anybody, whatever your age or dog breed.

“Even though we’ve not been doing it for long, my long-term goal is to get to Crufts!”
