Action! Radio Dacorum’s campaign video bid is a real beauty

A campaign to promote the positive sides of Hemel Hempstead is asking for your help to create a video which backers hope will be a viral hit.

Volunteer station manager at Radio Dacorum Matt Hatton kick-started the #lovehemel campaign after the town was voted the ugliest in the UK in an online poll.

What started as a social media initiative to share positive comments and pictures has now become a grand project to get as many businesses and individuals as possible to contribute a short clip of themselves doing a silly dance move to the 2012 chart LMFAO hit I’m Sexy And I Know it.’

Matt said: “The Twitter hashtag #lovehemel has actually been around for quite a long time, but I just wanted to harness the power of social media and get everyone else on board.

“We then came up with the idea of making a video including everybody in Hemel in some way. It is a bit tongue in cheek, we’re not taking it terribly seriously but we are using it to carry the serious message that Hemel is a place of beauty and there are so many things going on here.

“There’s just so much good that needs to be talked about, and people don’t know about it.”

Radio Dacorum is asking for submissions of clips to be sent to admin@radiodacorum.org.uk or tweet a link to the Youtube version to @radiodacorum, using the hashtag #lovehemel.
