A midnight date for BBC breakfast jock

A BBC radio presenter is the latest to back a fundraising midnight walk.

Breakfast DJ Gareth Wesley from Three Counties Radio visited the Hospice of St Francis to sign up to the event being held on Saturday, June 11.

He toured the Berkhamsted-based hospice to find out more about the care it provides to terminally ill patients and their families.

It costs around £10,000 just to keep the centre running for one single day and funds are urgently needed to pay for around the clock care.

The midnight walk is the biggest fundraising event of the year for the charity.

For the first time the walk – previously for women only – has been opened up to men.

Gareth said: “I’m happy to do my bit and take up a challenge I wouldn’t normally do in order to encourage other blokes to take part, too.”

It costs £15 to sign up. Visit www.walkwiththestars.org.uk or call 01442 869555.
