A bank manager who has lived in Berkhamsted for 30 years is hoping his familiar face will help him in his new role as a homebox collector for the Hospice of St Francis.

Terry Bensusan, 53, manages Lloyds TSB in the High Street and spent time with the hospice for a work-related ‘day to make a difference’ in June. He was shocked to hear there was only one homebox – used for people to drop in their spare change – in Swing Gate Lane.

He said: “I’m counting on people recognising me, having lived in Berkhamsted for such a long time and worked in the town. I’m looking forward to doing my bit to help. The hospice offers such a strong safety-net to those in the local community and it’s great that we can all give back through our small change.”

The homebox scheme is 30 years old and brings in £50,000 a year for the charity. Email pippa.chappell@stfrancis.org.uk or call 01442 869555 for ways to get involved.
