A national drinks supplier with a large warehouse in Hemel Hempstead has gone into administration, leaving almost 200 employees with a question mark over their future.

WaverleyTBS Limited is one of the UK’s largest wholesalers and distributors of alcohol and soft drinks, with a warehouse in Cherry Tree Lane housing 192 staff.

But on Tuesday it was announced that the firm had gone into administration with partners from business advisory firm Deloitte being appointed as administrators.

There has been no word so far on what will happen to any of the 831 people employed by the firm at its 18 sites across the UK, including those in Hemel Hempstead, but it has been announced that the company will continue to trade as normal while a buyer is sought.

Administrator Daniel Butters from Deloitte said: “WaverleyTBS is a prominent business within its industry and we are in negotiations with a number of interested parties who are keen to acquire the company.

“The company has a committed workforce and a strong customer network across the UK, supplying to a large proportion of both national and free trade beverage retailers across the country.”
