A man from Great Gaddesden is on ‘Cloud 9’after picking up a £10,000 windfall - thanks to his postcode.

Barry Teagle, 55, won the weekly jackpot while playing the People’s Postcode Lottery, winners of which are selected through their postcode.

He was presented with a cheque for the five-figure sum by rugby player Scott Quinnell who is an ambassador for the lottery which raises money for charitable causes.

Barry, a maintenance engineer, said: “It was quite a surprise, I had no idea at all what I had won. I had to do a double take when I saw how much the cheque was worth.

“At first I was more taken by having a bit of a celebrity at my door.

“I thought ‘I recognise this man, it’s Scott Quinnell, the rugby player’. I’m on Cloud 9, it’s the best feeling ever.”

Barry intends to go on holiday to Turkey and buy a car with his winnings.
