A GROUP of youngsters have more than £50,000 to give away to the right people – but it’s up to you to decide who they are.

The give-away is open to anyone who can suggest a way to improve sporting facilities in Berkhamsted or the surrounding villages.

All you have to do is contact Berkhamsted Youth Town Council (BYTC) to put forward a bid for any amount of money up to £50,956.

Grant application forms will be available from Monday, August 1, but council member Gemma Dalton wants to hear what ideas you have before then.

Call her at Berkhamsted High Street-based Swan Youth Centre on 01442 384349.

The group is managing the cash on behalf of Dacorum Borough Council under the Berkhamsted’s Ideas Delivered (BID) initiative.

Youth council clerk Clare Muir said: “The youth town council is organising the criteria, who can vote and how they vote.

“But it is up to you, the people living in the area, to decide how the money is spent.”

Those in the HP4 postcode are invited to Berkhamsted Civic Centre in High Street on Sunday, October 30, later this year to vote on how the money is allocated.

Applications for grants will be accepted until the end of September before the public decide what projects get the cash.
