Teenage joy as lights go on at Berkhamsted Skate Park

editorial image

The lights have been switched on at Berkhamsted Skate Park, so that youngsters can now enjoy it after school during winter.

After a year-long campaign Berkhamsted Youth Town Council has installed a £2,500 floodlight at the Canal Fields site. Chairman Gerry Lianos said: “It goes to show what young people can achieve when we work together.”

The youngsters raised the cash through a cake sale, doughnut sale, raffle, and events at the town’s summer music festival Berkofest and Christmas Festival of Light. The Berkhamsted Lions Club and other organisations also backed the project.

It will be on from when darkness falls to 10pm and aims to make young people feel safer in the area.
