Darius follows in famous dad Dave’s jazz footsteps
One of the most famous names in jazz will be gracing the stage at the Berkhamsted Jazz Club on Saturday night.
The main attraction for the Civic Centre session is the Darius Brubeck Quartet, led by the eldest son of jazz legend Dave.
Dave, the pianist who gave the world Take Five and other worldwide hits in the 1950s, died in December last year – but he created a dynasty of talented players including Darius, who also specialises in cool keyboard.
He performed with three of his brothers at the 2009 gala event when his dad received a medal for his lifetime contribution to American culture in front of VIPs including President Barack Obama.
Joining him will be tenor sax player Dave o’Higgins, Matt Ridley on bass and Wesley Gibbens on drums.
Tickets are £10 for members and Dacorum Card holders, and £13 for visitors and guests.
If you’d like to be there, call 01442 824173 between 9am and 6pm or email bjazztickets@gmail.com. Doors open at 7.15pm and the music starts at 8pm.
