There’s still a little life left in this year’s panto parade

THE Christmas pantomimes may be over but in Long Marston youngsters and the more mature alike can look forward to Cinderella, the village’s 25th annual half-term production.

It’s written by hairdresser Neil Gurney, the Leighton Buzzard Businessman of 2011 who has been creating fundraising pantos for the villagers of Long Marston for the last 24 years.

His first production was Aladdin and the 23 that have followed have all raised funds for the community.

Passionate about musicals, Neil also works regularly with the Court Theatre, directing The Sound of Music, My Fair Lady and The King and I, to name just a few, as well as writing shows and reviews.

This year Cinderella will follow very traditional lines with plenty of audience participation, a wickedly funny script and sweets for the children.

Longest-standing Long Marston actor Chris Hodges teams up with Alan Munt to play one of the ugly sisters.

Alan does a lot of acting with the Chesham Players and has appeared as an extra in shows like Coronation Street.

Former Radio Luxembourg DJ Ian Nichols plays Buttons while his wife Serena Williams is Cinderella.

Long Marston and Puttenham Horticultural Society present Cinderella by Neil Gurney at Long Marston Village Hall from Thursday, February 16 to Saturday, February 18, times vary.

Tickets are available from 07855 369515 or 07970 636168 or pop into Meads Farm Shop on the Lower Icknield Way, Wilstone Village Shop, or the Queens Head in Long Marston.

They are also available by visiting the village hall on Sunday afternoons.
