THE classical musical Sweet Charity, made famous by Shirley Maclaine in the Bob Fosse movie from 1969, is hitting Tring’s Court Theatre stage.

Director Jamie Scott has previously directed The Who’s Tommy and The Rise and Fall of Little Voice at The Court.

And it’s a real family effort with Jamie’s wife Jayne on board as choreographer as well as appearing as a dancer with their daughter Emily.

The cast includes Jodie Holley as Charity in her first lead role, Tring favourite Andy Faber as her love interest Oscar and one of the strongest group of dancers to appear at The Court in recent years.

Audiences are guaranteed to find themselves tapping their feet and singing along to well-known numbers such as Big Spender, Rhythm of Life, If They Could See Me Now and Baby Dream Your Dream.

The show, put on by Tring Festival Company, runs from Tuesday, June 19 to Saturday, June 23 from 8pm.

Tickets cost from £6 to £15 and are available from the box office on 07543 560 478 or www.courttheatre.co.uk or Beechwood Fine Foods at 42 Frogmore Street, Tring HP23 5AU (Monday to Friday 7.30am to 5.30pm, Saturday 8.30am to 5pm and Sunday 10.30am to 3pm, cash or cheque only).
