Business booming as town bucks recession

editorial image

BERKHAMSTED has attracted a flood of new businesses to its town centre despite the current economic downturn.

Two High Street firms opened on Friday – women’s shoe and fashion accessories shop Shu Shu and alternative health centre Bayyoga, which is above Costa Coffee.

Villagio Italian restaurant opened on the High Street last week, as did the new Make Believe Ideas cafe in nearby Water Lane car park.

A new Fat Face clothing store is also due to open soon in the town High Street.

Shu Shu owner Polly Lusher said: “Berkhamsted is a very cosmopolitan town with a lot going on.

“There are lots of restaurants and women’s boutiques, which we compliment.”
