New Young at Heart volunteers are needed to help run a social club for the over 70s.

The Young at Heart social club has been running at Bennetts End community centre for over 30 years but is in danger of closing if new committee members can’t be found.

The club meets on Thursday afternoons and members enjoy games of bingo and line dancing as well as welcoming entertainers from time to time.

The club needs volunteers for three key roles – a chairperson with lots of ideas and good people skills is needed to keep the existing members happy and help recruit new ones, a super secretary is needed to deal with the paperwork and help with arranging the entertainment and booking the hall and a treasure of a treasurer who is well organised and who can maintain the books and keep good records.

Volunteers don’t have to be over 70 to help out.

They can be any age as long as they have bags of enthusiasm and the right experience.

> Highfield Community Association is looking for a cheery kitchen hand to help out in the community centre’s popular internet café.

The role involves helping the head cook as well clearing tables and washing up.

If you are free on Wednesday or Thursday mornings, are good with people and confident with food preparation, this could be the role for you.

> Hemel Hempstead Gateway Club needs a deputy leader to join a great team of volunteers.

The club offers social and leisure activities for adults with learning difficulties and meets twice a month on Tuesday evenings at the Jarman Centre, Old Crabtree Lane.

The right volunteer will have enthusiasm, lots of ideas about fun things to do and be great with people. IT skills will also be useful as you will be working with club members to agree a programme of activities and helping to deal with correspondence.

This is a happy and friendly group of members and volunteers that urgently needs help.
