A good cause hopes its new ‘pre-loved’ furniture shop will pull in enough cash to open an extra two beds at its hospice.

Returned to Glory - a new Hospice of St Francis shop in Northbridge Road, Berkhamsted -was officially opened by the town’s mayor Ron Cowie today (Friday).

Charity director Doctor Ros Taylor said: “There really is something for everyone and it is a really exciting initiative.”

The Northchurch-based hospice currently has 12 beds and needs to raise an extra £174,000 each year to open and maintain an extra two. It would mean nurses could care for another 60 patients annually.

Last year the good cause looked after 900 people - of these 300 were inpatients and 600 were cared for in their own homes.
