Motorists warned about more severe weather

The Highways Agency is advising drivers to check the weather forecast and road conditions before travelling today and into Friday after the Met Office issued a weather warning for snow and icy conditions.

Snow has been forecast for east England this afternoon and it forecasters say it will spread south to central parts of the country on Friday.

There are also likely to be severe overnight frosts in the south east.

The Highways Agency is working closely with Met Office forecasters and its winter fleet will be treating motorways and other strategic roads around the clock while the cold weather continues.

Why can't more people clear the footpath outside their homes? lazy? or scared they will get sued? We clear our footpath and the pavement outside our home always have always will until ill health prevents us from doing so.

I disagree. I don't want my council tax being used to clear and grit side roads. As long as HCC keep the main routes clear the side roads are not a major problem. If roads are particularly bad why don't neighbours join forces to clear a path through. People seem to expect everything to be handed to them on a plate these days. It's a little bit of snow, it will be gone in a few days. Live with it.
