A cadet group with dwindling numbers is hoping to attract more young people through an open evening.

Hemel Hempstead Army Cadet Force meets on Monday and Wednesday evenings at its Queensway base.

Youngsters, aged from 13 to 18 years old, can develop leadership and teamwork skills, learn fieldcraft and shooting and take part in drill and turnout.

Instructor Dave Japp said: “There is a wide scope for cadets to better themselves. It is a great way to meet new people and to push yourself to be the best you can with the right motivation. It is also a great stepping stone for a career in the armed forces.”

The open evening is on Wednesday, May 1 from 7.30pm, but those interested can find out more by visiting during the meeting nights between 7.30pm and 9.30pm.
