Beavers hope they’ve sur-pasta world record

A group of 25 young Beaver Scouts are hopeful their fu-silly challenge will earn them a spot in the Guinness Book of Records.
The children, aged between six and eight years old, made a pasta chain which measured in at a whopping 597.5 metres on Redbourn Common on Saturday. They now have an agonising four-week wait to find out if they qualify for the record title.
Lesley Kinsella, leader of the Redbourn Priory Beaver Scouts, said: “It is an unusual record but it was something that would work with young ones. We wanted to pick something that, if we all worked hard, we could achieve.
“They are excited because they think they are going to be famous. They read the Guinness books and want to see their name in there.”
The pasta, donated by Sainsbury’s in Woodhall Farm, Hemel Hempstead, will now be given to the Rev Will Gibbs of Redbourn’s St Mary’s Church, so he can feed it to his pigs.
